A breathable Chhath Puja cotton saree that carries the whole festival on its pallu. Painted by hand in the Madhubani style of Mithila, women stand in a river full of lotuses offering arghya with soop and fruits, while Surya Dev shines above them. Beside them walks the decorated clay elephant of the kosi bharna ritual, carrying a kalash and sugarcane, with a kalash of mango leaves close by.
The mustard-yellow body is dotted with small painted suns, a row of diyas lights up the top edge, and banana trees and daura offerings line the hem. A fine black-and-gold geometric border frames it all.
Soft cotton keeps you comfortable through the nirjala fast and the long hours at the ghat.
